That is an addition to mechanical equipment enclosures, commercial and industry gates, rooftop screenings, and architectural screening. Our handiwork can be found from the Grand Canyon to Yellowstone Forest. PalmSHIELD has become known as the ultimate architectural equipment screening solution in the Midwest, and for good reason.

PALMSHIELD EXCLUSIVES

Picture Frame Design

PalmSHIELD utilizes Picture Frame Design for designing architectural screening, rooftop screening,  and gates. Every panel’s built to stand on its own without twisting out of shape. Our panels are also easily removed, and to reinstall them, should the need arise, is also a simple process. Your PalmSHIELD panels will also have superior ventilation. PalmSHIELD can be also be configured as screens, rooftop screenings, grills, and gates (swing gates as well as slide gates).

Cable Railings

As the cable railing system industry leader, PalmSHIELD fabricates both exterior and interior application systems. We know a lot about cable railings, having been in the business for 50+ years, and have gone the extra mile by designing a system of our own. Welded frame design or field assembled design can be modified to suit changes in direction as well as changes in elevation. Because cable railing needs at least 10 cables to be tightened to a pull force exceeding half a ton, a fully framed system is essential. Without a full frame, system failure is a possible outcome.

Gorilla Hinge

An original line of industrial hinge designed by PalmSHIELD, gorilla hinges use 1/2″ plates for the purpose of mounting gates and gate posts. These hinges feature a slight offset, allowing the gate to shut slightly past the full close point. This is helpful in avoiding the conundrum of gate posts being accidentally set a fraction of an inch off the mark and the gate being unable to properly close. As Grand Island’s top gate contractor, we believe in helping work around common gate and fence problems experienced by customers.

THE SPECS

Custom fabricated to each application, PalmSHIELD’s louvered screenings allow end users to select the amount of visibility and air flow by varying the spacing between the louvers. These louvers may be placed vertically, horizontally, and diagonally.

PalmSHIELD is also unique in that we provide the industries’ widest louver:

  • .1250 thickness
  • 2” x 2.873” tall installed profile

The PalmSHIELD louver not only has a larger profile, the entire louver profile is sloped, allowing for greater airflow and less visibility. We offer a wide selection of perforated metal, square welded, or woven wire mesh. Not to mention many grating infill options.

PalmSHIELD uses 3” x 3” x ¼” angle vertical supports, each louver welded to the vertical supports. Our welded wire mesh, perforated metal, and grating is shop welded to meet IBC and UBC codes. Due to the larger vertical support, PalmSHIELD provides a 2 ¾” weldable surface to attach louvers to the frame. This robust frame is used for the majority of our architectural screening.

What makes PalmSHIELD Grand Island’s top architectural screening system is the use of a 3” x 3” x ¼” angle top and bottom caps. Most systems do not provide rigid top caps, which are essential to protecting panels from falling debris, hail, etc. The bottom cap protects the screening from foot traffic and mowers. Vertical supports and horizontal caps are welded together, forming the industry’s only picture frame design.

PalmSHIELD uses a 2” x 1/8” aluminum flat bar not to exceed 24” apart to support the louvers between the framework. This support helps prevent intruders from gaining access by spreading the louvers apart. Larger than most systems, PalmSHIELD uses a 4” square x ¼” or 3/8” wall post. Posts typically do not exceed 60” on center. The larger and thicker walled posts are suited to stand up against snow loads and high winds. All nuts, bolts and fasteners are made of stainless steel. Swing gates are incorporated into your system use only our Gorilla Hinges.

The most important part to any coating system is the preparation of the materials. After the fabrication process is complete, all materials are carefully sweep blasted and powder coated. Sweep blasting removes foreign debris and also opens aluminum for adhesion.

Did we also mention that custom colors are available? Polyester powder coating is used by PalmSHIELD in accordance with material hardness ASTM 3363 2H.
